Wow, did I pick a good day to run
Sitting around the house after work today, I realized that I had some time to myself and was considering my options. I decided that I would head out for a little run to see how I was feeling. Monday's run was a good test but I figured that I would double up on the distance and see if I was able to go for it. I got going easy but was really moving along well. I just tried to stay well within myself and work on my stride as I think when I over stride I cause myself grief. So I just kept going hard, the km clicking off quickly. At 6km I turned into the wind and f*#k there was wind. I just knuckled down and drove through it, my pace backed off about 20 seconds but it was blowing 35km/h so what could I do? I paced off hard for 3 km till the turn for home, out of the wind and I got those 20 seconds back. I finished faster than I thought I would which is such an awesome feeling you know? I love feeling this way!!! 45:55 ~ 10km, 4:35 per km. Wicked.

Easing back into it
I've been off for a few weeks this month for several reasons, health, injury, too much work and sorted other crap. But I have decided to climb back into the fray. I jumped out during a break to run a quick 5km, trying to go under 23 minutes. I started out slow but still under 5 minutes a km but just barely. I picked up the pace a bit the next km but was still lacking so I had to move. I felt pretty good (no knee issue) so I put the hammer down and ran hard. The last two km were under 8:40 with all that uphill crap coming home. I finished up at just, and I mean just under 23 minutes. Yeah me!!! Weather was pretty nice today too, not too hot and a little breeze. 22:59 ~ 5km, 4:35 per km.

It's been awhile
Holy man, it's been a week since I ran and two since I ran any real distance. Work and life have been crazy and running being a hobby has had to take a backseat for a bit. Till today when I got to go early so I took full advantage and hit the road when I got home. I was really ready to go and felt amazing. It was effortless running for the first 5k easily. I ran 4:22, 4:28, 4:22 in the middle without feeling like I was working. My knee started to bark around 8k again and I pushed the last couple of km's to get under my 50k, 10k split time. I finished the 10k in 46:19 which was pretty good despite the lack of running. I hobbled home for the next couple of km but in the end it was great. 46:19 ~ 10km, 4:37 per km.
